Started off- couldnt get the wagon out due to a load of road surface being dumped to resurface the yard managed to get the wagon almost by and shovelled a bit I WAS going jumping. Then we got lost. Hopelessly lost. The route finder didnt route find very well and we missed the turning. So 10 miles became probably 30 odd. Got there and it was freezing. Jumped on Paddy, warmed him up in the rather wet warm up, popped a small fence and went for a tiny clear round- never jumped him away from home, hasnt been jumped in a couple of months, I havent even ridden him in weeks hey ho. He went clear. Clear? Hell!!!! Lots of polos and Lu had a walk round on him then put him back on the wagon to eat hay. Heck- as long as he has food he doesnt care where he is Next up Yeti- who hasnt been jumped in ages either. Went in for clear round- clear but rather fast. Decided as it was nearly 12 to do pre novice (2'). He flew round and won. Not many there- in fact no one else to go higher so I just did a higher clear round. Then the organiser took the camera off mum and got some pics of me and Yeti (excuse the crap position, the mud, and the horrendous clip!!!)

Well done Emily - and I'm full of admiration for you going out to compete in such flippin' awful weather. Is that East Farm Competition Centre at Selby by any chance?? It looks very familiar.....last time I saw that place I was doing dressage in the snow! LOL

They are lovely there, aren't they? I think it's one of the friendliest and most encouraging places I've ever competed. LOL at the numb thighs - I'm not surprised, it's freeeeeeezing today.

I must find out the pics of when I first got him- he has definately got chunkier!! (The clip is dreadful close up- we had a bit of a debate about whether or not he was going to be clipped- compromised by dodging flying hind legs and standing behind a bale of shavings- he looks much better with his head clipped but that was a battle too far- vet due for Mickey and I didnt want her walking into 3rd world war!!!)
Ill definately go back again- both jumping and dressage it was so friendly. Going to persuade others on the yard that feel too nervous to jump at a "show" or do dressage to go there too. May even see if they do lessons as one person we were speaking to who was running it seemed really helpful.

Hey Em - they are great pics!!!! I cant believe you managed to get soooo lost! LOL
They are so supportive there arnt they. They are doing some shows next year too!
Are you doing the dressage on Sunday? I was goingt o come up and see what was going on up there on Sunday, but after I had my freezing cold lesson I decided to give it a miss!!!
I bet you were speaking to Sue (short lady!) - she is very friendly and helpful.
If you are looking for an instructor in the area, I would recommend the lady I use. She is brilliant (and qualified!) and comes to you - or where ever you happen to hire the arena! LOL

Not doing stressage- its too cold to stand around!!! Plus Yeti demonstrated he likes fast, fast and faster (and jumped out of his skin when the surface hit the side of the barn ) Think it was Sue. Think a lot of the people who were there were regulars- one lady with her son on a small pony was saying they were there most weeks. I will be looking for an instructor- but at the moment we have no school (well, unless you want to take swimming lessons...) and I havent the time to get mum to drive the wagon. New wagon is currently being serviced and prepared for an MOT- wont be ready until the new year at a guess (need a new windscreen ordering) and a lot of work. Then..... I will be mobile!!!!!!! I can drive this wagon, though it may be taken back off the road as Im hoping to have it resprayed in Yeti's colours!!! I know, sad but Im very very excited!
