be careful, the vet warned me that some of them contain a lot of protein which can cause upwards fixation of patella that ebs had, i asked what i should be feeding her and when I told her she was just on hay, grass and a handful of chaff she said there is no need to feed anything other than that unless they are looking too fat/skinny esp as she is a native type! But I am sure others will tell u different, as with all horsey things!!

Have you tried Winergy Equilibrium Growth? It's good for youngsters if you don't want to feed a mix

When I got Cherry and Olivia (Cherry was a 6 month old weanling and Olivia a yearling), I carried on feeding them Mare & Foal mix for a short while as that was what they had been having previously. Then they were turned out onto my grass, and really that was all they needed. They have certainly grown well!
My new filly Gem is currently yarded and stabled, so is having no grass at the mo as my top field is quite waterlogged. She is on hay and foal mix, which I will gradually change onto something more fibre based. She looks quite fat with all her fluff but actually you can feel her backbone and ribs so she needs a bit of feeding up as yet. I don't use supplements, apart from a salt lick. Once Gem goes out to pasture in the spring, I will stop all extra feeds as my grass is so lush.

Blossom is on half a scoop of Happy Hoof, a small scoop of nuts and some unmolassed sugarbeet once a day. She's 8 months old, out in the field with barn shelter and has hay in the evening

Apple chaff, stud nuts and sugar beet. Ad lib hay on the night and turnout during the day the only suppliment I add is seaweed powder but all my herd get that. Forgot to add that this is for a yearling and a 2 year old. During the summer they won't get anything as we have good upland meadow grazing ;D

Winnie is rising four but is still quite thin/dainty.
She is out 24/7 and most days has chop/speedibeet/spillers conditioning cubes. tbh she could probably do with twice as much.

Folly is nearly two, and she has exactly what Molly has - alfa beet, chaff, and carrots (which she throws up the field, and the others eat) Once the summer grass comes through, she will not have any hard feed. She obviously has plenty of hay as well, but lives out on a steep field, on the edge of a moor.

We feed all of ours just grass hay and forage. It seems to be the best choice for keeping them balanced and keeping their bellies safe as well
