Could someone tell me what is involved in a "Pony Club / Riding Club pony" class which is ridden showing. It would be with my Connie type, i don't have any paper work for him, so would i need to plate him up, and what is involved in the class itself. What bit are they meant to be shown in, etc.
I assume this is more of a newer class as i haven't seen it before and this year so far all the local show schedules i have seen have this class.
I hope that makes sense and i haven't lost you all, LOL.

My friend took her cob to a riding club event last week and went in the turnout and equitation class. She was using double reins with a pelham on her hogged mare. The judge told her she should be doing equitation in a snaffle. Another girl was in the same class with a native pony and was told it should have had its mane plated. If this class was at a local show for the best riding club horse I think both riders would have been correct

I don't think that it matters which bit you use for Riding Club Horse/Pony classes. As far as I understand it, they're looking for an animal which is best suited to riding club activities. I'd probably use the bit your horse is used to and goes best in. If I was taking Bea into that class I'd put him in his normal tack and plait him up. YO has a Connie and she always plaits her up for showing in anything other than M&M classes.
The classes are usually straightforward and may include a couple of small jumps.

I did a riding club horse class with Jay last summer. It was similar to each of the other showing classes we've done, but there was an optional jump for you to either include or not at the end of your individual show. In the schedule it said the jump would be 2ft6 max, but was a cross-pole approx 2ft.
I didn't plait Jay for it because if I attempted to plait they'd look like footballs! He was the only one unplaited, but still came 3rd :-)
