Sorry I know you must all be bored with my gushing Dressage posts by now but this is the last one for awhile I promise! Took Duke to Etal which is a lovely venue up in North Nortumberland on sunday in the peeing down rain He was feeling a bit cheeky when I was first warming up and even bucked at one point when I was just walking he was so excited  He settled down though and put his forwardness to good use once in the test. Prelim 13 was first up in the indoor school. He was very good getting mainly 7's for everything, silly mummy forgot to do the give and retake so we got a 5 for that and only a 6 for the free walk as it wasn't active enough. Did get an 8 :woo: for the down the centre line at the end. So ended up with 67.1% which earned us 7th place out of 31 with the winner on 72%. Next up was Prelim 4 which was outside in the walled garden, luckily it wasn't raining by this point. He was good but a bit tired and on my hands a lot yet looked quite good on the video. Seemed to be a very safe judge who was obviously stuck on the 6 button as 20 out of 30 competitors were between 55% and 62%. Duke got 58.6% which got us 11th place out of 30. Overall very pleased with the boy against some very good company. :bounce: He gets a weekend off next week, then PMG the following week but not any competitions for a while now. No pics of the tests as poor Charlotte was made to video them instead but bless her she did get some in the warm up. It was raining, hence the bright pink coat

Not sure where my first post went But I was chiming in with the 'NOT BORED AT ALL' too What an amazing young dales boy you've got going there !!! You've brought him along so sympathetically, and all that hard work is really paying off for you in the show ring. WELL DONE you two!!!

He is utterly gorgeous. I'd love to do dressage on a dales one day Can I ask something? Do you HAVE to use the white dressage square? Or is not saddlepad okay?

No, it doesn't have to be a white square but most dressage people tend to use them. Any subdued, descrete colour is OK - unless the rules have changed reciently?
