Really struggling to cook something that doesnt take hours, is filling and is healthy. Any ideas for a family? (Madam doesnt do tomatoes so they are out unless she's not eating though she will get bolognaise and lasagne etc)

I have had a slow cooker for years, can't recommend them enough. you just bung everything in it in the morning and leave so at the end of the day you have a wonderfuly tasty healthy casserole just bung in a few jacket potatoes and bobs your uncle. I find the flavours are so much more developed and all the meat is wonderfully tender. I even use mine when we've visitors as it means I've so much more time to be with them than cooking in the kitchen.

Yes, I'm another fan of the slow cooker.

Me too....
I also have an Anthony Worrell Thompson health grill and it's fantastic for cooking fish, chicken, anything really, even mediterranean veg.
My steamer is also something I wouldn't be without. You can steam a whole meal in it (fish or chicken included) and it's lovely.

Again cant say better than the slow cooker. I buy cuts of shin (cheap as chips beef) dice this up, I find a pound is enough for 6. Into the slow cooker it goes, with 1 chopped onion, diced potatoes and carrots, diced celery. If you cheat you can use 2 - 3 oxo cubes wtih this, I alway add quarter teaspoon of finely diced chilli, some ginger and some garlic as well.
AND to top it, I put in about 200mls of low fat creme freish as well.
Turn on, and serve when I get back from work.

AND I often find enough liquid in the slow cooker to drain off, save for soup or use in a gravy as well.
