what do you use?
iv always used a polly pad but always found they sometimes dont stay put and slip back a bit.
iv started useing a thin numnah and a front riser pad and its loads better and dan seems to be going better in it.

I always use those thin Hi-wither numnahs now. Anything thicker seems to slip back.

I use sheepskin numnahs - Harley has a half one, and Apollo a full one.
Just a thought on riser pads - I used to use one but was talking to a saddler and he wasn't keen on them as they alter the width of the saddle - making it narrower as you have more bulk underneath. He told me to bin it and buy a new saddle. I think there are 2 schools of thought about them but if it is working for Dan then stick with it!

I use Numed half sheepskin hi-wither numnahs for Bea with a prolite pad. I know what your saddler means, Jane. I was advised by the back specialist to use a prolite pad for Bea because he has proper withers and it cushions the saddle. He had muscle wastage over his withers, but since using the pad the muscle has built up again. The pads are useful if a horse is prone to losing weight easily - as Bea is.

In normal circumstances I always use hi-wither numnahs, usually half wool or the thin cotton ones (Griffin). The only ones I use that aren't hi-wither are poly pads which I put under Dancer's Fhoenix, they seem to stay put quite well.
I have used sheepskin half pads but find they are quite bulky and you need to make sure you have space under the saddle for them (they will easily go under a Fhoenix but can be quite slippy!).

I tend to use a thinner saddle cloth and use what ever is clean at the time, LOL.
