yesterday and today Dan has been like a banana when iv got on for the first couple of minutes and if i as him to walk on he bucks LOL then is fine!! do you think its the cold on his back with him being clipped? (i havent been putting his exerxise sheet on as its so warm in the sun) or maybe hes just frisky!! lol

It could be. However one of the physios I used to use explained that in a lot of occassions it is an ill fitting saddle. When the rider gets on it hurts so they buck/play up, after a few minutes the pressure spots are so squished they go numb - so it stops hurting and they behave. This leads to the "cold back" problem, and owners think it can't be a saddle problem as the horse is fine after a while - where as it's 110% saddle problem.

i have started using a numnah in stread of a polly pad but iv used it for a few weeks, where as dan has only done it this weekend, i might swop back and see how he goes.. thanks Olivia x

You could try a warm hotwater bottle on his back for 10 mins prior to riding and see if warming hhis muscles up beforehand help him.
