.....that fighting with Lena in front of an open fire is a bad idea! I was sitting on the settee chatting to my brother on the phone and suddenly smelt a dreadful singeing and Jasper flew past with smoke coming from his tail. He'd stuck it in the fire by mistake when he was play fighting with Lena.
Needless to say I ended the conversation, caught Jasper and stuck his tail under the cold tap. He wriggle and squealed but I managed about 5 minutes soaking before I was in danger of having my thumb chewed off!
Poor little fella is a bit sorry for himself now. It doesn't look blistered though so maybe it wasn't too bad.
Poor Jasper - please send healing vibes for his little tail!

Poor Jasper, that was a lucky escape by the sound of things! Thank goodness you were there to see it happen and act quickly. Andy will tell you I am neurotic when it comes to animals around fires but these things can happen so quickly. Lots of healing vibes on their way..........

Well - Jasper is, as I type, flying around having a mad half-hour and playing with his toys....so I think he must be OK. His tail has dried and I can't see any damage other than some singed fur....so he has certainly had a lucky escape, as you say Pam.

What an incredibly lucky boy, and well done you for getting hold of him fast and under the taps. Pam's right, these things do happen so quickly round the fire. I'm so glad he seems to have gotten off with naught but a soggy tail.

OOps, poor Jasper : Jaspers's sister, Lucy burnt her nose . My aunt has had to use a fireguard as the silly girl like sto get a tad too close to the fire in her bifd to extract as much heat as possible. I hope Jasper is okay- sound slike he has forgotten about it all ready.

Oh poor Jasper! Silly boy. I must admit, it wouldn't have crossed my mind about using a fireguard! I thought animals would be more sensible than children? Having said that, if I left the door to the bottom oven of my Aga open - I think Scruff would crawl in! He loves burning his back on the Aga!

Oh poor Jasper - I suppose it's difficult to keep track of your tail all the time, glad he's okay. Our cat Tufty once walked over the top of the gas hob when it was on - she wasn't too pleased when I grabbed her and stuck her in the sink - she didn't even seem to have singed her paws

OMG Sue!! poor Jasper!! thank goodness he was only slightly singed. My father had a white cat for years called Heidi...she used to hid behind the boiler sometimes and on one occasion it started up and she flew out with stripes up he sides where the jets had fired up!
