My friend and I were talking last night about encorporating a sponosered ride into our hacking - we were thinking about finding a new longish route and getting people to sponsor us for it. Do you think this would be a good idea??
Now with regards to who the money would go to - we were thinking of the usual ones like the RSPCA, ILPH, Blue Cross etc but we would like to do something different - my boyfriend suggested raising money for the British Troops. Does anyone else have any ideas??

Great idea, are there any 'local' based charities that would like your support?

I organised a charity ride last year. My main bit of advise is get in touch with the charity - they can help with publicity, probably have sponsor forms and logo's that you can lose. I also set up a page on www.justgiving.com which was really simple. Choose a charity that means a lot to you, for whatever reason. I chose Arthritis Care as our family is blighted with it, but my next one will be for Breast Cancer Care as they were very supportive when mum was ill. The more your charity means to you, the harder you will work to raise funds. I loved doing it, I loved the challenge of organising it all and doing the publicity. Harley was in a good few mags and papers. I raised a huge sum of money, way more than I had ever dreamed of. Go for it and enjoy it. You will feel so good about yourselves afterwards. I did over 100 miles with Harley and could hardly look at him without a lump in my throat afterwards. If you need any info or think i might be able to help with suggestions etc please pm me.

Justgiving is excellant, I also reccomend them! I have still got mine to do and have already got £120 very happy, and I am sure the dogs trust charity will be too! A local charity would be nice, or a breed you are specifically interested in, Dales!?
