Got back from meeting Paul, dumped his stuff and went off to get some shopping, came home had some lunch then about 4pm I went to put out some hay, only to find that the baler twine holding one of the field shelter gates had burst and the gate had been blown so hard it had broken - the bottom bar was only joined at the hinge but the worst was both the bar and the rest of the gate had lots of lovely nails sticking out . Me thinks a letter to Saltire to complain is in order, I hate to think what could of happened if one of the ponies had got in the way of it swinging in the wind.

It has been a particularly windy spell lately!!
Thank goodness no ponies were in the way of the gate - yes, i think Saltire should know!

What a nightmare. Lucky ponies! I have to say though that on the up side I am using the wind to bombproof my ponies as I have tied plastic bags, some flags and bunting onto the side of the fields and they are all nicely flapping right now! Not the most beautiful adition to the field but good for the ponies heads

Good thing the ponies weren't harmed by all that. The wind can be incredibly strong even at lower speeds. Not to mention extremely annoying

Goodness, that was a lucky escape for the ponies! This wind is driving me bonkers - kept me awake much of the night as it was so noisy.
Clara - that's a good idea. I should do the same and make use of this constant wind.

Yikes Zelda glad there were no injuries! We've had the same over here for a few days now, but so far no damage to anything I can see! We do seem to get wind for much of the year now, even during summer , if it's bad I usually have to put earplugs in otherwise I can't sleep!
