as usual, but was it a good one!!
We had a visitor this morning. A woman who has a warmblood, but she is near a busy road, and there is no one at the yard to ride out with. She likes the area where our gang our, and asked if she could possibly come and ride out, so today she came to meet the black hairies.
As you can imagine it was a bit chaotic, with Tilly, Oliver and Folly all checking her for any signs of food.
Oliver unzipped and zipped up her jacket numerous times, and tweaked her toggles on her hood like he usually does. Her nice jacket may not be quite as it was by the time she left.
Anyway, she did not seem put off by what she saw. Fingers crossed we may get some help, and she also said she did not mind travelling to show. Thats when we need the help - someone to babysit Oliver. I usually have to beg someone from a nearby horse box to keep an eye on him if we go in the ring and have to leave him!!

So she passed the Oliver inspection with all toggles intact. That's something in its own. Blossom does very much the same. ;D How lovely that she'll be coming over for rides out. Maybe she'll become Oliver's new babysitter.

Well I suppose anyone who comes to ride with you will have to be "Oliver proof" Mair! LOL I think he's completely entitled to do a food/toggle check on anyone new he meets - I'm exactly the same.

I never noticed you check me over for food/toggles when we first met, Caroline?!! You and Oliver would get along famously then!
I will see how things are after she has ridden ....I know if I faced a choice of who to ride, Oliver would not be the top of my list. The woman may find Oliver just a little too much to cope with, there again, she may love his strange character.

Can't wait to hear how she does I can't leave James tied anywhere - as soon as he's exhausted the immediate supply of grass he breaks the lead rope - usually the metal clasp - so he can reach the next blade. Last time he did it I was changing out of my jods in the back of the trailer at a mini trial, the trailer started rocking like a boat on a choppy sea, outside were crys of "Loose horse! loose horse!" I stomped out of the trailer to find the "loose horse" four feet away munching for England NB: He is supplied with a haynet and I have tried tying him short....

No, she has not been back. Do you think she was just being polite at the time, and then made a quick getaway .....or has someone warned her what she is getting in to?!!!!

I don't suppose her Warmblood would have prepared her for three hairies...a bit like Goldilocks and the three bears some people have absolutely no stamina!

What a lightweight if she has been put off! Who could possibly be put off by the magnificent Oliver? I'm sure it's just that she has been busy or something!

No way would a warmblood prepare you for Oliver! Maybe she's trying to work up her courage, or maybe like Linda says, she's just gotten busy?
