Naughty of me as Eldon wasn't home, but I popped Blossom's halter on and brought her out for a little bit of inhand grazing. She was a lovely girl, and paid very good attention for me.
Then I thought I'd best check on the fire, even though the rains probably put it out. We walked round to the back of the house, and Blossom saw a slightly scary. Eldon had filled waterjugs for his plants and left them in the blue swimming pools. Oooh, the worst bit? When she sniffed to investigate the jugs, she would jam her nose down and some of the water would jump out the top and get her nose and she'd hop back all surprised.
The hens I thought she'd make more fuss over, but she hardly glanced at them, and vice versa. Its so funny to see my plucky little girls staring straight back up at her without hesitation. To be fair they've seen each other before when the hens had their pen in the back bit.
Onwards we went, and the yard got scary for awhile. I hadn't realized the ground was quite so boggy. Blossom got ahead of me (we're working on that), and before I knew it, I was looking at her bottom sunk well into the yard Luckily she wasn't bothered a bit, and just slogged onto harder footing. She took a long look at the gas tank, I checked the now dead fire, and she got to graze a bit before we headed back through.
Oooh, and then she had to work. She was starting to get too far ahead of me, and wasn't listening.....because she was ever so keen on getting back to the grazing again. So we did a bit of 'stand like you're doing a show'...and 'walk like you're doing a show' ....and thank goodness our showmanship wasn't being judged. She was going out of her way to stand one front foot atop another, or to stand sprawled out....and fat chance of a decent expression.
Blossom's face was stating plain as day she thought this was a load, and it was totally getting in the way of eating. My response was, humor me or we won't do the inhand grazing at all. Hmmm.....the standing and walking a bit weren't so bad ;D Yes, I know, I'm evil. Not only did the girl do a pretty walk up and stand for me lefthanded, but then I swapped hands, she rolled her eyes at me and, then we did walk ups and stands right handed. And then I led her over to a nice patch to munchy.
I know its hardly anything compared to the long walks everyone else seems to take their youngsters on, but with my kidneys, its a little bit at a time for me and Blossom. We'll get there in the end I suppose.
