I know what a worry it is, Gill. The only advice I can give is go by your gut feelings.
I had the trimmer out to Quest this week and we had an in depth look and discussion over his feet. It is looking like he DID have a lami attack back in late March/early April and it seems it was triggered by me worming him with the 5 day Equine Guard - Quest does seem to be chemical sensitive and I'd said I wasn't going to worm him again but.............
The more recent footy episodes look like bruising rather than lami but maybe related. He is fine now but I always turn him out in boots. However, even on the days he loses a boot, he is still trotting in sound but my gut feeling is I must continue to turn him out in boots and keep him in at night for the moment. From now on I am going to listen to my "inner voice"!
Hope you get some sleep!

What boots do you use Pam, and is Quest stabled at night?

Gill, I got Quest some of the old type Easyboots without the gaiter as the measurements suited his foot better than some other makes. The boots are small, easy to deal with and I felt safer than the gaitered version if he loses them messing about in the field. They have made a huge difference to him when the ground has been hard this summer. I've had no problems with rubbing etc and I keep the boots on for up to 7 hours at a time.
Yes, Quest is stabled overnight - he likes to be stabled and I'm sure his feet are far worse than Toby's. Quest coped fine living out 24/7 all last year from May, right through the winter until I wormed him this March!

I've been feeling for pulses in Toby's legs and haven't felt any for a while now. So I turned him out in a little paddock this morning and he certainly doesn't seem pottery LOL! He galloped off bucking and was walking fine. So I may try him back out with the others later - he has put on loads of weight while being stabled, even though I couldn't cut down his feed any more without starving him! That's if he lets me catch him - when he went out on Saturday for a few hours he wouldn't let me near him!

Oh good, sounds like you caught it early enough! Phew! It's a problem when they don't want to be stabled - luckily Quest is happier in than out!

;D What a tinker!!! Sounds like he's feeling so much better if he won't let you catch him. Fingers crossed he's over the worst
