What a cr*ppy day! Started badly with a view of the little man mounted on his Mum's behind doing all the right things , then went very well with a great lesson from Claire, Amy and Celt stabled and baby being good going between herd 2 fields away, a vigil outside Mum's stable (I wasn't trying to sh*g her, honest, now can I have some milk??!) and plaguing Celtie over her stable door! (My she does kick her door when grumpy!) It ended badly at tea time (5.30ish) with Tim with a serious colic (I thought at first he was sleepy as he'd not had his mum to monitor his naps) rolling, kicking his tummy, panting and straining. I have never waited so long for the vet to arrive! I gave him peppermint oil and kept him walking and he was brighter when the vet came. He even had a little suckle! he's had a few jabs and is looking better. She thinks the lack of milk has slowed everything down. He's now stabled next to Amy (who is happy stuffing her face!) and being given a milk break every hour as it is mildly laxative. No hayledge/hay until midnight, if he is okay then. Otherwise the vet's coming back. Send the little g*t some good vibes and pray for a poo for me as still no signs yet! I can't not wean him cos of his colty behaviour (he's not got a hernia but has two well developed plums for his age!!) but no milk is b*ggering his digestive tract!! Don't have boys anyone!

Just been out again (for the third time!) and - joy of all joys! - a small poo!!! And gurgily tummies! More milk, and some haylage for all! What a night! I'll set my clock for 3am now and then need to be up for 7am for fencing! Send some love to the little man please, as weaning's for real tommorrow!

Poor Tim and poor Lucy - bet you're tired Hope he's feeling much better this morning. That's quite a dramatic way to get udder privileges reinstated Hope the rest of the weaning process goes more smoothly.

No more poos in the night but he may have snuck one out whilst I let him have a trundle round the yard whilst I was making a cup of tea! Typical. He seems bright enough any how and has had some breakfast, it's just me that feels pants as I didn't get back to sleep after my 3am stint! Fencing man arrives in half an hour, post knocking is the last thing on my want to do list this morning!!

How awful!!! I wouldn't have guessed lack of milk would have caused a colic. Who knew?? Has his tum righted itself?? Sending pooh vibes winging Tim's way.

Hello, thanks everyone for your kind words and thoughts. The little man is well on the mend. I thought I might loose him last night. Got the fencing done by early afternoon. Tim had done a few more poos and seemed to be back to his annoying little self! Amy was seizing up being stabled but Tim was trying to climb over the stable door when I let her in the yard for a wander so that put paid to that. We put them all in the "boys" field and then took the girls out. Then all hell let loose! Everyone galloping about screaming their heads off. Choc was worst calling to Pants, she and Celt kept an afternoon vigil by the gate calling to the boys, Amy was busy grazing! The lads got themselves in a muck sweat, the girls came in for tea and cakes!! Tim is beside himself, and has reverted to tiny foal mode (he was even snapping at me!) and kept popping under Isaac to see if he had an udder with fairly obvious results. My heart is bleeding for him, them all infact. It shows what a tightly nit herd they are. I don't know if I can go through this again. I am very tired, full of thorn holes/sctatches, aching from too much physical exertion (for a fat over 40!) and feeling far too emotional! I just pray that we get through the night and every one is in one piece tomorrow morning. Sorry to be so unchirpy, it's been one hell of a day! your support means a huge lot!
