Well done you two!!! I just love seeing the pics and watching him come into balance. Absolutely gorgeous....and the baby pics are equally as charming! Afterall, this is hardwork, and I think he's doing brilliantly for such a young pony. All down to your very kind handling and bringing on Kristy LOL...that's soooo funny about Danny! I guess he's making up for all those posh 'clean' moments. ;D

Hi, I have only just read this thread (!!!!!) but thanks so much for such a brilliant account. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it and will probably read it through many times more. I know very little about starting a young horse but have leant a great deal and the way he has responded is absolutely down to his kind handling. Do you still do some of the parelli games with him? Thanks for a wonderful read

Hiya, Glad you found it helpful, I have loved every minute of bringing on Duke. I do still do the Parelii games with him but only once a month or so. Its amazing how much he remembers about it though, I do think its an excellent start for youngsters and really helps to cement the relationship and bond with them as well as give them confidence and boldness. I will proabably do it a bit more over the winter as although we have an indoor school youngsters get really bored with too much school work.
Next job is learning to jump!

Fabulous to see how Duke's come along for you Kristy, he looks absolutely stunning. It's so nice to hear about Danny too, he's such a special boy. Looking forward to hearing more about both of them.

Sorry I haven't updated this again for awhile. Not competeed with the boy since November just been training at home and continuing with the Peter Maddison-Greenwell lessons every 6 weeks and help from Carolyn. Did go out to Dressage a few weekends back, this is my post from the 24th Feb. Been out competing today having not done it since November when my driver and so called groom/photographer decided that winter dressage wasn't fun! :nerna: Went to Titlington which is a regular venue for us as it is only 7 miles away and luckily it stopped blowing a gale here this morning. Did Prelim 10 & 17. Was really pleased as was a very good boy even though it was his first time out in the trailer on his own, squawked a bit but I will forgive him that. There was a really good turnout with over 30 in each test. Came equal 7th in Prelim 10 and not sure about 17 as left before scores were all up, would have been in top 10 I reckon. He was much more consistent to the contact and maintained a better rhythm throughout just lacked a little forwardness in the second test. Good start to the year though as going to affilate him with British Dressage this year. Next outing possibly will be jumping with my sister as jockey! Photos courtesy of Buffy with her fab new camera, still trying to figure it out so although we have 100 images will only but a few on here. A little grainy but you get the idea. I have indeed renewed my British Dressage membership so just need to register Duke, hopefully in time for 12th April. Oh and forgot to say, we measured him the other day and he is a whopping 15.2hh!!! Does anyone eles have one that big?

Well done both of you! I'm glad you are affiliating - I'll be following your progress with interest! Great to see a hairy doing so well at dressage. He is a big boy, isn't he! He is looking superb, you must be very proud of him. You have done a wonderful job schooling him on. Harvey is just under 15.1hh and shrinking - you are right, good muscle structure does make them hold themselves a bit taller and Harvs has lost his.

He's looking fab Kristy - and well done for the dressage results. 15.2hh!!!!! Crikey! He doesn't look that big in the pics - he has pony proportions so I guess that makes him look smaller. What a handsome boy!
