Oh bother! I can't remember if you are using any homeopathic remedies Linda? ~ I've had a look in some books and two of the remedies for abscesses are Hepar Sulph - where the abscess is is burning, throbbing and extremely sensitive to touch, and Silica - when the discharge is slow to clear. Tha abscess feels cold (Hepar Sulph feels cold) I hope that it bursts this time, and you both can get some relief

I'm even more confused now. D was as lame as she was yesterday this morning. Tonight she seemed quite a bit better again. I have been down on my hands and knees and gone over her foot with a fine tooth comb and I can't see a bloomin' thing! There is black around the back of the frog and a bit of a hole but nothing that I can see coming out of it. I'm stumped and don't know WHAT to think!
Zelda, I used silica with Mac and must see if I've still got it.

Blimey, I do hope that's it and it has finally burst. Maybe the bit of black is all that is left. Worth trying a homeopathic remedy though.

Has Jane got back to you yet, Linda? Sounds like you could do with some expert support - be it the vet or Jane. I wonder what's going on in there........
Sending you hugs.....

So glad Richard has been in touch. Reading some of his stuff on the EE board, he seems to be a very caring, compassionate and knowledgeable person.

The black bit and the hole sounds awfully like its finally burst to me -Merlin's first one grumbled on for about 6 months and when the new farrier found it it was black. If she was mine i would be hot poulticing that hole to be sure that everything was out before it closed over

That's one thing, if you think you've found a hole, don't let it cover over for anything. C'mon D, come sound again for your mummy, sweetheart
