Thanks everyone - I'll keep you posted.
My problem is that I keep Bea on working livery and if he can't work, I can't afford to keep him at the yard. I'm trying not to imagine the worst - and Leann has very kindly offered him grazing in her field (you're SUCH a good friend Leann xx) - but the implications of this could be pretty life-changing for him and for me. He has a home for life with me, whatever happens though...I'll find a way through if I have to eat beanz and eggs for the rest of my life, but I wish I didn't have to think about this right now. Still - I'm jumping my fences before I get to them aren't I...but I can't help trying to work out what to do in the worst case scenario.

Everything crossed for you here. At least you will hopefully know what you're dealing with after 14th. Hoping it is something really simple and all your worrying will be for nothing. (I know its no good telling you not to worry - its impossible not to sometimes I think)

Now you've put it in perspective I'm hoping the vet's can run to the bottom of this in a heartbeat and really get at the source of the problem. I know its awful, but for myself, I'd be dropping even the homeopathics at this point, for a very, very clear picture of what's going on. I know that might leave him in some pain, but better that so the diagnostics can pic up on it.

Try not to get yourself too anxious at this stage Sue - not easy I know . Wait to see what transpires with the vet, it may be something that is easily treatable. It's great that Leann has offered you grazing so at least short term you don't have any worries on that score ..

That is lovely of Leann to offer Bea grazing. Hopefully Bea will soon be sound and back in full work so won't need it, but it must be very comforting to know the offer is there. I know how anxious you will be feeling right now. Sending lots of hugsxxxxx

So sorry to hear that Bea's not better but so great that he will be staying at the vet's to give them a chance to really figure out what's the problem. Try not to imagine the worst, though I know it's hard not to. Lamenesses are so terribly frustrating. Hugs for you & Bea.

I got to spend a some time with Bea today, give him a groom and take him out for some grazing. He seemed less frantic today and more relaxed than he has. Maybe he's getting into the box-rest routine now......

That's good. I'm so pleased he is becoming more settled with his new routine. It is strange how they do tend to adjust in the end. Quest used to go frantic with box rest but now he's the opposite. He WANTS to be stabled and I find it hard to make him stay out at grass - after a couple of hours he is screaming to come in. So watch out, you might find the same with Bea!

Routine isn't bad. He has something to look forward to. He is in my thoughts.
