Kathryn came over to see her girls, Molly and Folly today. She brought her friend Angela, who helped her with both ponies when they were foals, but had now seen Molly since she was two. Angela used to ride as a young girl. She said she had not ridden for well over 25 years, but jumped at the chance of having a ride on Molly. I put a lead rope on Molly just in case Angela was nervous, but within a couple of minutes, she was so at home in the saddle, I looped the rope over Mollys neck and left them to it. They even managed a couple of trots!! Well done to Angela for having the courage to get back in the saddle after all this time, and well done Molly for behaving like an angel the whole time, even when a bus was right up behind her. A couple of pics - we took Folly with us for as the experience of being out on the road is good for her, and she also loves having a walk.

Forgot to say - it was only after Angela dismounted at the end of the ride, that she said she was 67!! I only hope I am as agile as her at that age.

What lovely pics! They both look like they are really enjoying themselves. That's quite something to get on and ride after a 25 year break! I hope I will still be riding too at that age - not that 67 sounds so old to me now! ;D
Were those pics taken today? We were near your area yesterday and it was VERY different - grey, cloudy and windy!

Somehow, I don't think I will be riding at 67!!!!! A friend of mine as just got a new horse. She is 52 and this horse, she says, will last her untill she gives up at 70!!!!!! the horse will then be 18.

Our neighbour learnt to ride at 60. I don't think I'd be able to get on at that age. It's hard enough now without a mounting block!

Good thing we didn't call in then, Mair! lol
We had a day out in Derbyshire with Nikki and Ali for their birthdays. Did the Heights of Abraham and lots of walking - my thighs still hurt but I think me and Andy are fitter than these 15 year olds! We ended up around Mam Tor area and I nearly suggested we do a detour to visit you. The girls would have loved to see all your menagerie - and so would I!

I hope Bea and I will be able to grow old together. He's 12 this year and I'm 50.....I guess by the time he's ready to retire I ought to be thinking about giving up riding too. I certainly wouldn't relish the trauma of trying to find another horse as wonderful as him!
Your friend doesn't look 67 Mair!!

Alot of the riders on the endurance circuit are over 60, I once did part of a ride with a lady who was 72 and she looked great. Molly looks lovely Mair.

still riding and schooling at 62 but now I restrict myself to the cobs its a long way down and somehow the ground seems harder off the shires and I dont seem to bounce like I used to AH getting older and dafter but as long as I can get on I will continue to hunt although getting off the quick way hurts more nowadays !
