Have you found that Remy is easier or more difficult to back than your Dales have been - or is she somewhere in the middle?

Remy has been a doddle because she has the most fab laid back temperament! But Cherry was more or less the same, even though she has a more feisty and unpredictable character. I don't think breed has anything to do with it, it's more the character of the individual, and what kind of ground work you put in before you attempt backing . A more sensitive horse would need more work and each step would need to be firmly established before you moved onto the next one, whereas a less sensitive horse would probably be more accepting of anything you asked of it. I haven't really done that much with Remy so it's a testament to her character that she's been so obliging ;D

What a good girl!!!! I just adore how soft her eye stays in these pics and how many times her ears are riveted on you. LOL, patience seems to be part of Remy's make up. I can see the having to stand still while you sort reins to be a good exercise, but standing still is certainly not a Blossom forte

Those are fab photos Gill and your smiles say it all! Glad to see that Sue has slightly more sensible attire on than I had when you backed Cherry! Trust Sweep to find someone else to groom him!
You really have had a productive as well as fun weekend!

I've had a great day today with Remy ;D. She was ridden off the bit for the first time and first I put Anna aboard so I could control Remy on the lunge and get her to move away from her leader. She was good as gold with a 'stranger' on board. Then we swapped so I could get a feel of her, she was quite amazing, moved off my leg to walk, moved away from my leg to the side of the school and 'whoad' on command and to a small contact on the bit with hardly any resistance. I think she has been here and done it before! What a fantastic girl she is and I can't wait to ride her properly We then had fun in the school! She is such fun to play with, she is a real character  Running round the school You're supposed to jump that not blunder through it! Do I get a treat? Try once more! But you're not supposed to go round them!! You WILL jump that jump ;D 'Head down' is something I can do easy peasy Now it's your turn! OK now you have deserved some treats!! She is soooo funny, she has such prehensile lips she almost takes my entire hand

That last shot is just wonderful Gill - it just sums up your relationship with Remy so beautifully.
It all sounds wonderfully positive I'm sure it won't be long before you're out and about on her.

Gosh, what a good day you had with her! Sounds as though she is incredibly responsive and intelligent to have moved off your leg like that so soon! Or perhaps it's that you are a super duper trainer! LOL! A bit of both probably!
Wonderful photos and I agree Helen, I think we are witnessing the start of something special.
