I have just about fallen off my chair laughing at this lot! I've popped home for a shower as D is grazing peacefully and doesn't look like she is about to produce!
I'm not convinced by any of it and you may well be right Grace. She does give me heart attack sometimes when she is obviously in discomfort and lays down, gets up, goes on her knees, gets up and stands around lifting her tail. But then she seems to get over it, walks off and looks like a perfectly content and normal D! I am well aware that it could happen very soon now or not for a week or two so am not getting too excited.
I wonder if she will hang on till the better weather at the end of the week. There are definite changes to her vulva, udders and rump, but that may well not be conclusive. In fact, her udders have shrunk a bit this morning! Perhaps it is my cold hands coupled with the heavy rain!
It is nice and cosy in the caravan but my only worry is, I've got a lot of clients next week, I've got the decorator coming to do Paul's room in the last week in May (it needs emptying), Paul is arriving in the country on the 1st June from NZ and I am now WELL behind with all the cooking and preparation I need to do for his homecoming party. Unfortunately the cooker in the caravan is not really up to cooking joints, parsnip roulades and cakes! I really could do with D having it today so I can get on! I hope I don't end up having to choose to meet my son at the airport (who hasn't been home in four years) and the possibility that D might foal!
Oh well, I'm getting a nice rest in the caravan! Better look for another book after my shower!

lol Linda, I think you need to delegate. Make a list of everything you want preparing for the freezer and we can all do a bit.
It's been tipping it down all morning here so I do hope D decides to hang on til the weather improves. I've decided not to go down today as the caravan will be full with visitors - I'll go down tomorrow and any weekday.........

Being a Tuesday's child, I have to agree... Tuesdays are a nice day to be born on LOL, that little caravan's been duly and truly broken in by now Linda I'm so glad you've got a cozy/comfy place to monitor D from. I'm sure she's reassured knowing you're right there for her

Well still nothing happening. Amanda are you taking a sweepstake? D's udders are full and firm but the time I've spent there this afternoon she's looked more settled than before...no signs of uncomfortable periods, maybe the calm before the storm? Keep strong Linda.... you're doing really well!

Steve and I called in to see Linda for an hour this afternoon. All was quiet and D seemed calm and content. Her bum is definitely spongy and her udders firm - as sunny says - and Linda says there's definitely some vulval lengthening...but I couldn't judge that.
I'm no judge really, but I didn't think it looked like anything was going to happen very soon.
Still - Linda has a lovely set up there. The caravan is ever so cosy and the awning is useful for wet boots and coats. The window overlooks D's paddock so Linda doesn't even need to leave the caravan to make a quick assessment of how things are going.
It would have been so perfect if D had foaled this weekend - but it isn't to be....

Nothing happening here either... went over to dads this afternoon and doris's udder is full and very firm, tinker looks full (would not dare touch her loose in the field) and dribbling milk, she had wax showing a few days ago tho too. not long to go now, better get the camera charged up... ;D

Rude question........ (skip this post if you want)
When we talk about vulval slackening/lengthening, are we talking about the actual slit? Thats the bit I've been measuring. But I notice this afternoon that the bit above the slip looks puffy, smooth and longer - I think (I haven't been measuring THAT bit ;D).
So which bit lengthens?
D very slow this afternoon and resting much more than usual. Still doesn't look imminent to me though!
