We started working towards backing Celt in July cos she developed a "sensible" head and Amy was lame (diagnosed with arthritic pasterns at vast expense but that's another story!). Did a lot of long reining. Claire was working with Sue and I as I didn't want to send her away as I have too many pones with issues other people have caused. Brave or daft, not sure which! Anyway, first sit on in the middle of August: Will she buck? ........ In for a penny, in for a pound! Still in one piece! A month and a half on (this Sat): First trip out round the village without Isaac for company (and no Claire!) and Sue on the ground just in case. Walk on, Celt! "Is that my best side??" "Phew! You're a lardy arse! Have we done yet?" I am sooo proud of her, she hasn't put a hoof wrong (yet!) and is so enthusiastic and quick to learn. Isaac's nose is well out of joint! We haven't gone out of a walk yet as we want her to build up her back muscles a little and we've done very little yet in reality. Helen, she's gone back to cuddley! I just love her to bits! Sorry I have been missing this year, it's been a tough one for me. I'm having December off work (fingers crossed) so will try to get Tim's blog back on line if anyone still wants it? Tim had a very bad accident in the summer but thankfully has come through it none the worst for wear. He's still a kn*b, just a bigger one now!! No brains at all!

Lovely to hear how you and the pones are all getting on. What a star Celt is. You've got a fab riding pony there. Really sorry to hear Tim had an accident but thank goodness he's OK and PLEASE do tell him to continue with his blog.

Thanks ladies. Yes the month off is cos they'd rather me do that than take the next three months off! I have worked so many extra days this year I had over 10 weeks holiday still to take before Xmas. I am running 4 weeks over to next year and having this week off. Jenny is away working at the WEG in Kentucky and Lily has developed two front foot abcesses so not a restful week this week. She is bigger than all the bears, but thankfully not as strong (yet!). Best wishes to everyone

Oh gosh, poor Tim - please tell us about him, I hope he is totally recovered now. Well done Celt! Elle and I still don't do much more than walk and a few short trots, and that's a year on . I reckon a steady slow start is better in the long run, gives them time to grow, mature and lay down the right muscles.

Celt has been so laid back all along. I am gob-smacked! Knob had a "little incident" whilst I was on holiday which left him looking like this a few days on: Worse still he had to have a leg stapled back on too, and all his legs were bad. He's healed up well though - a month on: And recently back to normal - a chunky not so little hair-bear! It was a self inflicted accident, but I'll let him tell you as it will make better reading! Thank God it was him not one of the more flighty ones. He was a very good patient, even Jenny was impressed!

Thank you for the fab catch up Lu!!! Crikey you've had an exhausting time of it And TIM OMG, that must've aged you overnight! I think its a miracle he's still alive, and its clearly down to your great nursing that all those scars have healed so well. Battlewounds Tim? Honestly, boys Celt is looking fab under saddle You must be so chuffed with her progress

Thanks for the sympathy for Tim. I'd like to say he's learn't his lesson, but sadly I think not! Rode Celt round the field today accompanied by Claire riding Isaac. She was brill and even did evils at Isaac once she was in front on the way home! He let her get away with it ..... this time!! ;D She is one brill (not so) baby!
