Hope everythings ok with Danny Kristy, how do his soles look? Im asking this as Bobs look a lot flatter than they were, just on the fronts though. The back feet are nice and concaved.

Bev, Quest is exactly the same - rather flat on his fronts but the backs more concave. My trimmer tells me she feels sure she can get his fronts closer to normal in time. I can't remeber whether you had shoes put back on Bobs or is he barefoot? I'm hoping to keep Quest barefoot and am putting hoof boots on him for turnout when the ground is very hard - no need for hoof boots at the moment, flippers would be more appropriate!

Yes I had shoes put on Bobs as I missed the trimmer as I was working and couldnt leave his feet any longer. I feel quite happy about him being shod at the moment though, maybe I will have him barefoot nearer winter. LOL @ flippers!

Sorry ladies not to update you sooner. The second lot of xrays where as clean as a whistle, no dropping or rotating. He has his shoes off for those ones and had x-ray from the front to back as well as side on so it was just a nail or a piece of tape in the first set. Left his shoes off since and not sure if it it has anything to do with it or not but he has come on leaps and bounds since.
Hes now getting loose schooled for 15mins on a morning in the indoor school mainly in walk and 2 circuits of trot on each rein and is striding out really nicely and SOUND, yipee!!! Then gets turned out into the hemmell with a sawdust base in one half and concrete on the other. He is still stabled overnight, another 2 weeks and he wont have seen a blade of grass for 4 months!!! Hoping to start riding him gentle indoors soon then begins the dreaded task of re-introducing him to the grass. Please everyone continue to keep their fingers crossed.
His feet are very concave now Bev I couldn't believ how quickly he shed his soles when the shoes first came off, they went all white and chalky. Look super now though.

Fantastic news! What a relief but all down to your care and attention. It's hard work managing a laminitic - I know that well! Interesting about his soles. Quest shed his soles whole just recently too and I guess it was due to the change from very dry to very wet weather.
I'm still keeping all fingers crosed for Danny but it looks like he is over the worst.

I can't believe i haven't updated this for so long.
Im devastated to say that Danny is now retired at the grand old age of 14 as his hocks just can't cope with any form of work.
On the positive side he is now out in his mud L-shaped paddock for 7hrs a day now still on a bute a day at the moment and looking very sound so hoping to get him off the bute and living out when the grass has died off if at all possible.
As long as he has a decent quality of life then Im happy but am already trying to prepare myself mentally to make that heart breaking desicion when needed, hopefully not for a long time yet!!!
