I'm sure everyone knows but Linda's D will be coming to visit on Tuesday with the hope of putting her and Amy in foal to Sammy. This is a big step for me, but I don't want two blood lines lost for the want of trying! Pls send me some good vibes as this is a huge responsibility to take on as all my mistakes will be on public display!!! Pls also send Linda lots of love and best wishes as giving up D's care is something no-one takes on lightly, especially when Linda has put so much in to getting D sorted, when most of us would have failed her much sooner! Linda is being so brave and she'll need everyones' support to keep positive about this! Please send D your thoughts too as this will be unsettling and stressful for her, and for my lot who will have to find a new peace with an extra member in their herd! Also please send Isaac lots of love as he was laminiticy on Sunday, and I've just got him stabalised. I am taking a book on who comes out on top, Isaac or D!!! LOL! My money's on Isaac!!!!!! We'll keep you posted!

Lucy, I'm really delighted for both you and Linda. It couldn't have worked out better for D and the 2 of you! I know you will be feeling it is quite a responsibility and Linda is being very brave and unselfish but it seems to be the perfet solution. It will be lovely for both mares to be in foal together and for the foals to have a playmate. I know Linda will be coming over to visit and I hope to cadge the odd lift along to see you and meet your herd at long last! ;D I'm so sorry to hear about Isaac. Thank goodness you've got him stablised so quickly. When they've had lami once, they seem to come down with it again so much easier. I'm constantly panicing about Quest, as Jane may have told you. I was sooooooo relieved to hear her say Quest hadn't suffered lami again, he was just footsore from the hard ground. Good luck for Tuesday!

You'd be welcome any time, Pam! Shame you can't come on Tues!! LOL! I must admit to feeling nervous, getting everyone settled is my biggest priority, without too much first aid!! Also living up to Linda's expectations (not that she's putting any pressure on me, far from it) it's just that I somehow feel far more responsible for someone else's pony! I'm just used to patching up my own!! Choc came in this evening with a huge scrape on her face, Lord knows what she'd done it on!! (I think she may have done it in protest for me not letting her out on to the long grass today!!! ) If I had any doubts, everyone's foalie photos are egging me on! PS We need some summer "Smilies"!!!

Thanks Lucy! You can be sure I will be up to visit soon! A pity I couldn't come Tuesday but have several prior engagements, sadly including a neighbour's funeral. I would have loved to tow D up for Linda but didn't want to risk it with my ankle. Andy's been towing for me for the last 18 months - I'm ready to start again myself but would prefer to start off with Harvey on short journey just in case. You must be getting really excited now! I can't wait to hear how D settles in with you and see some pics! Mmmm, you are right - we could do with some summer smilies!

Not long got in from Oxford again. I seem to be spending a lot of time travelling about recently!
I really don't want Lucy feeling worried in any way. I can't think of a better loan home for D than with Lucy. If she looks after D like one of her own then D will think she is in heaven! I have no doubts whatsoever.
I do feel VERY sad about D going but that is nothing whatsover to do with Lucy. I am just heartbroken parting with her but I know in my heart it is the right answer. I looked very carefully into breeding from her myself and very nearly did it. But then I looked long and hard at what was in D's best interests rather than my own dreams/ambitions and I just knew that Lucy has better facilities and will be able to offer a more stable home for any resulting foalie. So no doubts at all. D will be very well looked after. I will be able to keep in touch with her. I just won't be able to cuddle her every day. Scruff tells me he will do his best not to let me miss out on cuddles though so maybe even that won't be as bad as I think!

Linda here! D travelled well and didn't sweat up much at all - very relaxed in general. Got off trailer and stayed pretty chilled really. Lucy's field has a fenced off strip all round the perimeter that acts as her restricted grazing bit. Fabulous idea as the ponies still have loads of room to move round. Lucy put her lot in the middle and I put D in the outside bit. After a small bit of posturing they just settled down to eat. This evening they have been swapped about and D is in the middle and the others in the perimeter. Isaac charged at the fence at one point and D retreated to the middle. I'm not sure if she was really retreating or just saying I've got lots of grass naa naa ne naa naah! We'll see how they are tomorrow and maybe try them together. What are you all betting then and who's the bookie? I'll still put a tenner on D!

The jury's out, but my money's still on Isaac!!
D is absolutely gorgeous and travelled like an angel! She's not fazed by much!!
My lot are now showing me up and having a big in-fight to re-establish their own herd positions before the intruder is introduced. Choc nearly flattened me getting her in from the field! Witch!! Pants is trying to keep everyone chilled (including D!!) he's the glue that keeps them all together!
We went to see some Sammy Babies at Jackie's tonight (Quicksill ponies) and they were terrific and so laid back!! Grace and Evie have some really lovely ponies, it was a magical experience meeting them all. AND it was Jackie's 25th wedding anniversary!
Time for bed!
Lucy (for the avoidance of doubt!!)

Oh good, I'm glad the first introductions went well. My money's still on D, once they have all settled down - give it 3 weeks max.
How are things this morning?
