Well done Lucy, glad plan B was successful! Having D and Amy together is the ideal situation - they can happily discuss babies together. lol Poor Isaac - I still reckon that within 3 weeks he will "soften". How could he resist D? I daren't tell Harvey - Harvs was besotted with D from the first time they met and he is very much a "I want to be alone" type.

I slept better last night knowing that D had a little mate and wasn't in the corner of a field all by herself! Lucy is doing a fantastic job of looking after her, she even offered D a selection of essential oils to help her settle in. Maybe Isaac needs some to boost his confidence! LOL!
I am going away this weekend to Patterdale to show Scruff his ancestoral home! (I think Joe just wanted an excuse to go to the Lakes! LOL!) After all the turmoil of the past few weeks I think it will do me good to get away, just hope Joe lets me relax a bit! The youth hostel we are staying at is on the way up Helvellyn so maybe Joe has more adventurous ideas than lazing about reading a book? Anyway, I can go away knowing that D is in good hands. If anyone else wants to see the pictures on Photobucket they can ask Pam for the password if that's ok Pam?
Once again, thank you so very much Lucy for all the effort you are putting into helping D settle. You really are a star!

Yes, that's fine. They are fabulous pics showing the whole "story". I love the concrete area you've got Lucy. I'm wondering how I could convert a smaller concrete area we've got outside the stables into something similar.

I like Lucy's idea of restricted grazing too. She has the perimeter of the field fenced off so that the ponies actually walk a lot more than they would in a sectioned off bit.

Some of Linda's pics: I love the faces of the watching pack on the first one (this was initial introductions). This was wed when I put them out in one of my hay fields for a few hours as it was a bigger area for charging about, and we'd hoped they'd be more interested in eating than charging! Fat chance! (Buttercup is on Garry's list of things to get rid of! More drainage required!)

Things are beginning to settle down! D and Amy are getting along fine. Choc is delighted cos she's got Pants back. Even Billy-no-Mates is starting to chill a little! I put him out with D on her own (on the basis he wouldn't have a herd to protect) they shared some hay from a polite distance and then he did a very half hearted chase along on side of the field and D didn't have to get out of a trot to avoid him! Mind he had just done an hours lesson with Claire. Panic is slowly setting in... Bakewell F&D show is only TWO WEEKS AWAY...arrggghhhh!!!!
Amy is starting to get cresty (although feet fine) and is of ballooning proportions so will have to stop the overnight in the middle of the field with D regime soon! Mind, she's not complaining, and she does keep reminding me she might be eating for two in a month or two!! LOL!
I hope Scruff is enjoying his ancestral roots and Linda is getting a little rest!
Pam, my concretey bit works well as it leads out on to the field so the ponies can just come and go as they please. I can also shut them in the yard if need be. I can't remember the last time I actually stabled one of them, mind with 4 (now 5!) ponies and only two stables it might be problematic! Usually Isaac has one to himself, and the other three use the other!! Not quite sure how this will pan out now! The yard is currently out of bounds as there are too many things to run in to if you're making a quick get-away! LOL! I'll probably put up a field shelter for winter.
Garry Holter's report should come next week so well see what that proposes, also.

I'm so glad to have found this thread, I was getting really concerned that there was no news of D, Linda and the move to Lucy's - why didn't I think of looking in "breeding" LOL...... D'OH!!
So glad things seem to be going OK. My money is on D winning Isaac over - one way or another LOL.
And I very much hope that Linda is having a good break in Patterdale and getting the chance to recharge her emotional and physical batteries.

Put them all in together (on the perimeter) at about 11am, and BnM didn't bother with D even though she was charging about trying to herd Amy away from the rest of them! Even two feet from his nose only got a grumpy look!! It was almost "I can see you off if I want to, and at this precise moment I can't be a*sed!!" My money's still on Isaac but D will definitely be no 2! Can't see much else kicking off as it's getting too hot! If I get D's posing trot in her baby it will be a show winner!!

Token skirmishes throughout the day but on the whole getting much better.
It's a shame Steve's off with our camera as I could have got some piccies this afternoon of them all happily grazing in reasonably close proximity which would have been cheering for Linda, but you'll just have to take my word for it!!
Have just been and put neem oil on everyone's ears and "bits" as the nasty blood sucking little flies are starting to bite, and didn't need a head collar for anyone (even Amy who always heads for the hills if I'm doing ear stuff!! Mind you, she was wedged in at the gate by D - nice one D!!!! LOL!) D was fantastic, no bother at all.
D's by no means given in to Isaac but hasn't anything to show for the skirmishes as she keeps j-u-s-t o-u-t o-f h-i-s r-e-a-c-h!!! She's a smasher!

Just back from Patterdale and logged straight on to see how D is doing. Lucy did ring me this morning which was cheering and I'm even more cheered now reading this.
Scruff had a wonderful time in Patterdale. We had a beautiful walk down from the Helvellyn youth hostel to Glenridding then round Ullswater to Howtown. Then caught the ferry back to Glenridding, had dinner then the last mile or so back to the YH.
More of a fiddley day today but unfortunately with lots of discussion about something Joe and I had disagreed on before we went. Honestly - husbands! Their timing is CRAP! Oh well, I'm sure it will all get sorted eventually. Scruff will just have to give me triple cuddles - his, D's and Joe's!

Well, it all sounds good - the herd is settling down.
I'm glad you enjoyed the weekend Linda. Yes, I'm sure Scruff will be up for extra cuddles - male timing does leave a lot to be desired!
